Niam and Nima Energy partner to roll-out ultra-fast EV charging hubs
Niam has through its infrastructure fund, Niam Infra Fund (“Niam Infra”) partnered with Nima Energy AB for the roll-out of ultra-fast EV charging hubs. The partnership involves a 15% investment in Nima Energy AB as well as a first right to finance up to 500 MSEK of charging sites. Nima Energy develops the next generation e-mobility hubs in the Nordics and Northern Europe designed to meet the future demand for ultra-fast EV charging on-route as well as in and around cities. The roll-out of charging infrastructure is critical to the de-carbonization of transport.
Sverker Åkerblom, Head of Niam Infrastructure, says, “We are very happy to partner up with Nima Energy. The transition to electric vehicles is contingent on significant infrastructure investments. Together with Nima Energy we have the opportunity to accelerate this transition by rolling-out ultra-fast and accessible EV charging that cater to the needs of drivers, today and tomorrow. We are fully committed to offer accessible and fast charging and plan to invest up to 500 MSEK into this strategy over the next few years.“
Marcus Landelin, CEO Nima Energy, says, “We are very pleased to welcome Niam as a partner and owner in Nima Energy. Niam is one of the leading real asset investors in the Nordics and the investment by Niam Infra is a significant milestone. It will enable us to accelerate our growth journey to become a leading developer of EV charging hubs. The joint platform with Niam allows Nima Energy to establish charging hubs on strategically and commercially attractive locations for EV drivers. We look forward to start the realization of our first assets already in the fall 2022.”
